WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel “Juanma” Lopez (28-0, 25 KO’s) weighed in at 125.3 pounds and Filipino challenger Bernabe Concepcion (30-2-1, 17 KOs) measured 125 pounds during Friday’s weigh in at Coliseo de Puerto Rico, in Hato Rey, just outside San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The undefeated Lopez, who previously held the Jr. featherweight title for five successful defenses, will make the first defense of his world title in the main event of world championship doubleheader tomorrow on Showtime Championship Boxing, live on Showtime 9 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast).
Pound-for-pound great Nonito Donaire (23-1, 15 KOs) weighed in at 114 ½ pounds and once-beaten Hernan Marquez (25-1, 18 KOs ) tipped the scales at 115 pounds.
The two hard-hitters will square off in Saturday’s co-feature for interim WBA super flyweight championship. Donaire is currently ranked in the top five on several publications’ pound-for-pound lists and is the former IBF world flyweight and IBO world flyweight champion.
