Prospect Lubin Scores First Round KO In Pittsburgh

Sensational junior middleweight prospect Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin was a man on a mission this past Friday night in Pittsburgh, PA, scoring a first round knockout over Mexican veteran Francisco Reza in front of a huge crowd at the Consol Energy Center.

Just 18 years old, the former amateur standout has wasted no time fighting for Boxing Legend Mike Tyson under his promotional banner Iron Mike Productions.

Displaying his full arsenal of weapons including blistering body shots, the knockout of Reza brought the heavy handed Lubin’s record to 7-0-0 (6KO’s) and was his fourth first round stoppage of his young career.

Just four days after his victory, the Orlando based Lubin was back at the gym preparing for his next bout.

“Camp for my next fight began today, I don’t like to waste time”, said Lubin who turned pro last November.

Speaking about his first round knockout this past Friday night, Lubin stated, “The body shots are something we focus on in the gym. Reza was a little taller than me but I knew from the start how effective the shots to the body were.”

Prior to the Reza stoppage, Lubin battled the much more experienced Noe Bolanos over eight rounds on July 10, a bout telecast on Fox Sports 1.

“The Bolanos bout was a terrific learning experience. My conditioning was a big help in that fight, I felt like I could have gone 12 rounds if necessary that night.

“He was a tough guy but that fight allowed me to prove to myself that I could take the next step and win a distance fight by unanimous decision if necessary.”

Dedicated to winning a world title and being one of the best in the sport, Lubin rises each morning at 4:00 a.m. for his daily five mile run. “Each day is a step towards being a world champion.”
