Impact Boxing: Gary Reid And Chris Edwards Looking For Big October Results

As the dust settles after Saturday night’s contest between Scott Lawton and Amir Khan, the remainder of Impact Boxing’s boxers together with their coaches are busy preparing for a busy month of October.

Both of Impact’s other big guns, Gary Reid and Chris Edwards, have important fights coming up. On 19 October, Gary Reid faces the hitherto unbeaten John Fewkes at Doncaster Dome in what is being billed as an unofficial eliminator for the English lightweight title.

Meanwhile, Chris Edwards is preparing for an assault on the inaugural British super-flyweight title in November. Chris will appear at Stoke’s Kings Hall on 26 October in a warm up bout ahead of his title challenge. Edwards will face Chester’s Gary Shiel.

Impact’s young guns will also turn out at the Kings Hall on the 26 October as part of Impact Boxing’s eighth bill of professional boxing in the city since its formation two years ago.

Jimmy Doherty, now undefeated in six professional starts, will head the line-up as he steps up to eight rounds for the first time. Doherty has declared his intent to challenge for Midlands Area honours within the next twelve months. An opponent has yet to be secured for him.

Highly rated Scott Miller will make his debut on the undercard. With an excellent amateur record of 21 wins from 25 starts and a come forward style, the former Hulton Abbey amateur is hotly tipped as one to watch.

Werrington heavyweight Alex Ibbs will look to extend his winning start in the pro ranks having won both of his two previous bouts.

Imran Khan makes up the quintet of local lads turning out on the night. Having won his debut with a first round knockout, Imran found himself on the back foot for the majority of his last bout in May and consequently suffered a six round points reversal at the hands of Shaun Doherty. Gaining a reputation for producing fireworks the talented Khan will be motivated to regain his winning ways.

Chester welterweight Chris Goodwin completes the six-fight card. Goodwin has won on both of his previous visits to the Potteries and as a skilled technician the young prospect is becoming a firm favourite with the Stoke crowd.

Tickets for the event are available from Impact Boxing on 0770 944 9279 or by visiting www.impactboxing.com and concessionary rates of £10 are being offered to children under 14.
