It isn't a war, it's an occupation, and it's fairly average death rate for an occupation. The total serious casualty list including severe brain trauma injuries (all those people being blown up and having their brains rattled by roadside bombs) is now around 85000 and the associated healthcare costs for them is in the trillions. On torture, spying, executive power, you name it, McCain takes a principled stand against Bush, gets the media coverage for being a maverick, then flip flops and backs Bush.
