Boxing Update: Holmes vs. Minto Rematch On The Horizon?

The Pennsylvania Athletic Commission has determined that Brian Minto’s cut above his left eye was caused by a punch and not a head butt, during the heavyweight’s contest with Donnell Holmes on August 14th, 2009. The fight was stopped after the fourth round.

Since the Pennsylvania Athletic Commission ruled the decision a no contest, rather than awarding Donnell Holmes the TKO, Holmes has agreed to a re-match with Minto.

Rick Lazes, Holmes promoter, stated “Donnell Holmes will fight Brian Minto as soon as Minto is ready. This fight will not go 12 rounds because Holmes will knock Minto out early in the fight.

“I don’t think Minto is prepared to get back in the ring with Holmes now or any time in the future, so I don’t expect him to accept our offer.”
