Golden Boy Boxing: Fight Night Club Returns April 28 In LA

On Thursday, April 28, there will be a new host and co-host for the hit series “Fight Night Club,” but the stellar boxing action at L.A. Live’s Club Nokia remains the same, as local favorites Frankie Gomez and Ramon Valadez, as well as Venezuelan star on the rise Alfonso Blanco, all compete in featured bouts that will have fight fans on their feet from start to finish.

Debuting as the host of “Fight Night Club” will be Hot 92.3’s Jimmy Reyes, and joining him as a co-host is one of Ring Magazine’s Ring Card Girl of the Month, Paulina Garces. The April edition will also feature a live performance from recording artist Tiffany “Taz” Zavala.

East Los Angeles’ own Frankie “The Pitbull” Gomez (8-0, 6 KO’s) has come roaring out of the gate in his professional career with power, speed and an exciting style. With one win under his belt in 2011 over Jose Alfredo Lugo in January, the 19-year-old rising star is looking forward to making a triumphant return to Club Nokia in front of his hometown fans on April 28.

Popular 21-year-old Ramon Valadez (7-1, 4 KO’s) bounced back from a 1-1 start of his professional career to reel off five consecutive wins, including 2011 victories over Pablo Cesar Garcia and Jacob Thornton. On April 28, the East Los Angeles native makes his sixth Club Nokia appearance and tries to keep his hot streak going.

A native of Caracas, Venezuela, 2008 Olympian Alfonso Blanco (4-0, 2 KO’s) is already on the road to the top as a professional and he’s been adopted by Southern California fans in his new home of Oxnard. On March 5, the 25-year-old began 2011 with three knockdowns of Pablo Ruiz that garnered him a first round knockout victory and he will be looking for the same success in April.

Opponents for Gomez, Blanco and Valadez will be announced at a later date, along with two other exciting professional fights and three amateur bouts.

“Fight Night Club” is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and AEG and sponsored by Budweiser, DeWalt Tools, Cazadores Tequila and Northgate Market. The series will return to L.A. Live’s Club Nokia on June 23, August 25, October 27 and November 18. The fights will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net (FSN) and its regional sports network affiliates (check local listings). Doors open at 6:00 p.m. PT and the first bell rings at 7:00 p.m. PT.
