Further to the story previously reported on this site regarding the terrible injury incurred by Colombian bantamweight fighter Carlos Meza during the weekend, we are saddened to report that he has passed away at the age of twenty-six. Carlos Meza was an undefeated fighter with a professional record of eight wins with seven of them arriving by way of knockout. Meza fought Panama's Ricardo Cordoba on Friday night in Panama in a back and forth battle that eventually saw Meza succumb to a powerful barrage from Cordoba in the final round. Meza was rushed to the hospital where he was treated for severe brain injuries. Doctors pronounced Meza brain dead while the boxer lay in a coma and he passed away shortly afterwards. Saddoboxing.com sends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Carlos Meza.
