Kieran Molloy, Willie Donoghue and Irish team captain John Joyce all claimed victories in Kiev, Ukraine this afternoon and evening to book their tickets into the last-eight of the AIBA World Junior Championships.
The trio join Sean Conroy in Thursday’s (September 12th) quarter-finals. All four are now just one win away from at least a bronze medal each.
The IABA have named an 11-strong squad for the AIBA World Women’s Youth and Junior Championships in Bulgaria.
The Championships, the second in the edition since 2011, will be held in Albena between September 20th/29th.
Eight of the Irish squad for Albena – Kristina O’Hara, Niamh Ball, Christine Desmond, Jacqui Lynch, Grainne Gavin,Amy Broadhurst, Ciara Ginty and Ciara Sheedy – claimed Youth and Junior gold, silver and bronze at the EU Women’s Elite, Youth and Junior Championships in Hungary this summer.
The Irish team depart for Albena next Wednesday.
