Jon Kays of Ashton-under-Lyne out-pointed Kevin Hooper of Grimsby in a cracking closely fought contest Saturday night to win the English Super-Featherweight Title.
The Steve Wood – VIP Boxing promoted fight-night at Oldham Sports Centre also featured Ronnie Heffron in a six round Light-Middleweight Contest against Simone Lucas. Heffron won on points 58-57.
And Terry Flannigan of Manchester scored a second round stoppage of Michael Grant of Enfield despite being on the canvas himself during the same round.
The stacked fight-card consisted of twelve fights in total.

An exciting all-action contest between these two saw both men busy and fast on their feet.
Hooper though sustains a cut to the left eye in round three which distracted him for a couple of rounds but he regains confidence in the mid rounds to provide a closely matched fight. Both men find success with lefts to the head.
Kays gets the points win 97-94; 97-94; 96-95 to win the Title.

‘Turbo’ Flannigan finds himself on the canvas in round two but protests that it is a slip. He is counted then lands a shot which sends Grant to the canvas. The Enfield man gets up on rubber legs and can barely stand before Referee Phil Edwards. The fight is stopped. Flannigan wins by second round TKO and improves to 21 wins (7 by KO) no losses.
Grant drops to 13 wins (1 by KO) 4 losses (2 by KO) and 1 draw.

A close contest with Heffron winning on points (58-57) despite a point deduction for low blows.

William Warburton got a well-deserved victory scoring a 40-37 points win over Greaves.

While Greaves drops to 2 wins 1 loss.
