Coldwell Excited To Be Working With Elite Boxers McDonnell, Bellew

Consistently on the boxing grind in a number of capacities, Dave Coldwell can forget about making any plans away from the sport he dedicates himself to with high profile showdowns looming for two fighters he works very closely with.

After enjoying an excellent start to 2015 with the success of Tom Doran in the recent middleweight Prizefighter, Coldwell is anxious to build on that by providing more memorable occasions for his Coldwell Boxing brand.

In his role as manager for world champion Jamie McDonnell, Coldwell will be accompanying the Doncaster man on his unification quest when McDonnell challenges Japanese sensation Tomoki Kameda in Texas on May.

Boxing fans are also likely to witness the return of Liverpool’s Tony Bellew sometime in the summer as the world title hungry cruiserweight has his first outing since defeating Nathan Cleverly and filming the latest installment in the Rocky series. Coldwell is delighted to be involved in both high profile encounters.

“This is one of the reasons I’m in boxing, the chance to work at the top end of the sport and the opportunity to test yourself and the fighters you work with against some of the best fighters in the world.” said Coldwell.

“The news for Jamie is well deserved as he’s had to wait patiently for this fight and I firmly believe that he’ll grab this with both hands. Jamie is no stranger to being the underdog and he’s proved time and time before that he’s well capable of upsetting the odds. His story has been like a fairytale in recent years and I’m convinced it’s not about to end.

Concerning Bellew, Coldwell said, “The last few months have been really hectic for Tony with what has been going on in regards to the movie but people need to remember that boxing is his job and they’ll be reminded of that when he gets back in the ring in the summer.

“His desire to be world champion is like nothing I’ve ever seen before and we’re definitely on the right tracks to fulfilling his dream. The cruiserweight scene at world level contains a lot of very hard men who are all good fighters but on his day, I know that Tony can emerge victorious against any of the champions. We’ve still got work to do but when the time comes, he’ll be more than ready to make a massive impact.”
