At Evoque Nightclub in Preston Saturday night, Oliver Harrison promoted a show which featured seven bouts from local boxers.

The headliner saw Rotherham’s Nav Mansouri score a fifth round stoppage of Surrey boxer, Gary Boulden, in a six round Super-Welterweight Contest, while Dublin’s Antony Fitzgerald scored a points victory over John Brennan of Slough.

Results as follows:

Navid Mansouri (Rotherham) v Gary Boulden (Shepperton, Surrey)
6 x 3 Super-Welterweight Contest

The opening seconds sees Boulden off to a confident start but Mansouri lands a right to the head which sends a clear message to the Surrey man and then follows it up with two or three further rights to the head and body. Both men grapple together.

Mansouri dominates the ring. Boulden stumbles to the canvas in the second round but it’s a no-knckdown.

The Rotherham boxer mixes it up with a couple of uppercuts at the start of the third and a big sweeping right lands to the head of Boulden and he goes down. He seems to fall heavily but immediately jumps up to take the count. Mansouri goes after him and Boulden holds on. Mansouri goes for the same shot a number of times and the crowd cheers.

Boulden bravely fends off his opponent in the fourth but Mansouri gets in a cracker of an uppercut in the closing seconds of the round which rocks back the head of Boulden.

Round five and Mansouri continues to dominate but an uppercut sees Boulden wobble and though he continues – Referee John Latham stops the contest moments later – for the safety of Boulden.

Mansouri wins by fifth round stoppage.

Anthony Fitzgerald (Dublin) v John Brennan (Slough)
6 x 3 Middleweight Contest

A decent scrap between Irish ‘Fitzer’ and John ‘The Don’ with Fitzer landing some thumping big shots, but he eases off in the fourth to allow Brennan to score.

Fitz wins on points 58-56

Kofi Yates (Wythenshawe) v Lee Connelly (Killamarsh, Derbyshire)
4 x 3 Super-Lightweight Contest

‘Casper’ Yates gets the points win 39-38

Craig Bunn (Droylsden) v Elvis Dube (Derby)
4 x 3 Light-Heavyweight Contest

Both men land with some hefty shots and Dube has a good round four, but Bunn wins on points 39-37

Liam Conroy (Barrow-in-Furness) v Mitch Mitchell (Lincoln)
4 x 3 Light-Heavyweight Contest

Conroy was on the canvas in the third but continues to get the draw against experienced Mitchell 38-38

Ashley Peyton (Atherton) v Angel Emilov (Bulgaria)
4 x 3 Welterweight Contest

Emilov sustains a cut to the left brow in the fourth and final round.

Peyton wins on points 40-37

Marc Leach (Salford) v Anwar Alfadli (Sheffield via Kuwait)
4 x 3 Bantamweight Contest

A good night for Leach who has Alfadli down on the canvas in rounds 3 and 4 to secure the points win 40-34
