In preparation for tonight's Frank Maloney Promotions bill, "National Service", at the Robin Park Centre in Wigan, England, British Light Middleweight Champion Jamie Moore and challenger Andrew Facey both made weight yesterday as they prepared to tangle once again.

Moore, 27-3 (18), canvassed Facey, 19-4-1 (6), multiple times before stopping the lanky Sheffield man four years ago in Belfast but the North-West working class hero is expecting a tough fight and is taking nothing for granted as he hopes to make the third defense of his second reign as British Champion.

Facey comes into the contest as English Champion on the strength of his shock upset of previously unbeaten Gary Woolcombe this past Juanuary.

The 35 year old also holds wins over Matthew Macklin, Gilbert Eastman and Matthew Tait and took Commonwealth titlist Bradley Pryce the distance in a losing effort a year ago.

The chief support bout features welterweights Mark Thompson, 12-1 (7), and Chris Saunders, 23-22-1 (10), clashing for the vacant Central Area belt.

Thompson stepped up to light middle this past summer to mount a late notice challenge to South African champ Vincent Vuma for the vacant WBC International crown in a failed bid.

The 26 year old Manchester area boxer put in a furious performance, climbing off the canvas to floor Vuma but Thompson was stopped by his more experienced rival in the eighth.

38 year old Saunders is a former British Champion into the second bout of a comeback following a two and a half year hiatus after losing a firefight to Michael Jennings in 2004.

Also on the bill are Commonwealth Light Welter king Ajose Olusegun, welter hot prospect Craig Watson, undefeated welter Brett Flournouy, super bantam Mark Moran, light heavy Carl Dilks, super middle Martin Murray and light welter Jack Arnfield making his pro debut.
