This Friday, October 13, British Heavyweight Champion Scott Gammer takes the stage at the Afan Lido Sports Centre in Port Talbot, Wales to once again face opponent Mickey Steeds. The two rivals went to war in February of last year with Gammer taking a bitterly contested points win but Steeds vows that this time things will different. "I really see this as a 50-50 fight," said the London man. "The last time I fought Gammer, it was at two weeks notice, but this time out I'm much fitter."

Since the two men clashed last year in Brighton, Gammer has gone on to win the British title and as champion realizes that he must raise his game if he is to make a successful first defense. “I'm confident I'm going to win this one, but he's obviously going to be coming down looking to win as well," said Gammer. "I'm expecting him to have very fast hands, which he had last time out, and for that we have been working on my speed work ready for him.”

The man in charge of Gammer's burgeoning career, manager Paul Boyce, is also the promoter of Friday's bout and is expecting a pitched battle when the British Champion and challenger Steeds collide in Port Talbot. "They've both have similar styles and I think the early part of the fight will be close," said Boyce, "but I see Scott pulling away. Obviously, I think he'll be too strong for Steeds but it's going to be a very close fight for the first six rounds. I think Gammer will possibly stop him later on."

Should Scott Gammer get past Steeds, bouts with Danny Williams, Matt Skelton or Audley Harrison may be on the horizon.

A full undercard of competitive matchups are on tap for the Gammer - Steeds 2 card, with a IBF/WBC Youth Middleweight Championship between reigning title holder Grzegorz Proksa and Ignacio Lucero Fraga of Argentina as chief support.

Paul Boyce Promotions presents the Scott Gammer vs. Micky Steeds Heavyweight Championship of Britain on October 13, 2006 at the Afan Lido, in Port Talbot Wales. Sky Sports broadcast live on SS1 starting at 22:00 hours.
