Heavyweight Derric Rossy, “The Pride of Patchogue”, is now ranked number nine in the world by the WBO. “This is like a dream come true, said Rossy. “I’ve been working hard and staying active and all the hard work has finally paid off!”
The Derric Rossy vs. Ray Mercer fight, which took place earlier this year in China on January 26, will air this Sunday March 2, 2008 at 8pm on Sports New York (SNY).
“I was at the Klitschko, Ibragimov unification bout”, said Sal Musumeci CEO of Final Forum Boxing. “People were asking who will be the next real American heavyweight champion? Guess what? I think we have him right here in Derric Rossy!”
Now that Rossy is ranked in the top ten, one wonders who will be next? “It doesn’t really matter,” said Rossy, “I’ll let Sal take a look and decide what is right for me. I’m ready for anyone Sal wants me to fight.”
Names that have been mentioned include; Hasim Rahman, Timor Ibragimov and Evander Holyfield.
“I’ll listen to all offers,” said Musumeci. “Derric’s world ranked now, he’s climbed the ladder and now we are looking up at the top. We’ll listen to all comers.”
