I'm rather shocked with the amount of people that think this is a distinct possibility. Kessler was simply confused at how to fight ward. Ward would smother him on the inside coupled with a bad case of Holyfield head, and owned the outside with superior movement... Kessler did not make valid adjustments which lost him the fight but Froch has none of the Atributes Ward has as far as athletisism and technique...Nor does he throw with the regularity or have the hand speed that Calzaghe had. Kessler, stylistically, should outbox Froch fairly handily using superior technique and defense. Hell, Taylor(who's a good fighter in his own right barring the stamina issues) was beating Froch until he ran out of gas. Kessler is a better fighter than Taylor. We'll see, though. I just don't see Froch beating Ward. Froch can beat Green and Abraham... and he's already "beaten" Dirrell. I think Kessler beats him in this stage of the Super6.
I'm by no means a Froch fan. He has glaring weakeness throughout his game and his arrogance is annoying at best. However, he always seems to find a way to win. I picked Taylor to outbox him and regardless of the reasons, Froch wins. He beat Dirrell when I thought he had very little chance. He almost reminds me of Cotto in the way that he always seems to win when I expect him to lose (I picked Judah and Mosley to both beat him). BTW Cotto fans, that is the only way he reminds me of Cotto, so don't jump up my ass here.
If the same Kessler that fought Joe Calzaghe fights Froch, he doesn't stand a chance. Truthfully, I think even a 60-70% Kessler can beat him comfortably by outboxing him from the outside and I think he will, but Froch has surprised me in the past and if he can get inside on a faded Kessler he can win.
Against Abraham, who I believe Froch fights last, I honestly have it a 50/50 fight. If Abraham spends the first half of the fight wearing his earmuffs, he might be fucked because, if nothing else, Froch can bang. At the same time, Froch is wide open for well-placed counter-punches and Abraham's power is no joke either. That's a very interesting fight for me.
Anyways, the point of this long-assed rambling post is that while I doubt Froch will win the SUper 6, I feel he has an outside chance. If he gets into the playoffs (or whatever they're calling them), anything can happen depending on who he is lined up against.
