8 Count Boxing: Popoca Ready To Headline Tonight’s “New Year’s Revolution” Fight Card

Running around in the frigid temperatures of Chicago, undefeated fan favorite Ivan Popoca left the Univision television downtown studios Wednesday night as part of his final preparations towards the main event this Friday evening at Cicero Stadium.

Popoca, 8-0-1 (7), headlines against Houston’s Daniel Garcia at “New Year’s Revolution”, an outstanding evening of action packed professional boxing presented by Dominic Peosli’s 8 Count Productions.

The heavy handed Garcia brings a record of 9-7-1 (7) into the battle with Popoca.

“This last week has been a little hectic finishing up training and doing media interviews but it’s terrific to see the interest that the press and fans have not only in me but in the first Chicago boxing card of the year” said Popoca. “The increase in support has been terrific and I’m very grateful.”

Popoca has been training diligently at Chicago’s JABB Boxing Gym for the last two months in preparation for Friday night. “After getting my road work in during the morning, I’ve been doing a lot of sparring; working with Carlos Molina, Ryan Smedick and Juan Bailon. Each one gives me different looks and that truly help me in the ring” continued Popoca.

“I don’t know much about Garcia, so it’s important for me to use the first round to feel him out, see what he does best and keep him from doing that. I feel like I’m prepared for whatever he tries.”

Also featured at “New Year’s Revolution” is sensational super bantamweight prospect Eric “El Loco” Estrada, super middleweight Andrzej “The Polish Prince” Fonfara” and newcomers Ryan Smedick and William Hernandez.
